8 a.m. – FEU vs UE (men’s)
10 a.m. – Adamson vs Ateneo (men’s)
2 p.m. – FEU vs UE (women’s)
4 p.m. – Adamson vs Ateneo (women’s)

Fancied Ateneo tries to close in on early leaders National University and University of the Philippines when it goes up against Adamson University (AdU) today in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.

A victory for the Lady Eagles in their 4 p.m. confrontation with the Lady Falcons would improve its 2-1 win-loss record and untangle themselves from a second-place logjam with rival La Salle Lady Spikers.

Ateneo has been left without its star Alyssa Valdez which helped the squad win two UAAP titles and runner up thrice. But the team has adjusted well in her absence and appears to be moving along well.

“Balanced yung team, kailangan lang lahat pumuntos,” said Ateneo assistant coach Sherwin Meneses.

With Bea De Leon, Jia Morado and Jho Maraguinot in the forefront, Ateneo seeks to follow up its hard-earned 25-19, 24-26, 19-25, 25-16, 15-11 triumph against Far Eastern University last week.

They will be facing cellar-dweller Adamson which has lost all its three games in the tournament as struggles to get its winning form under American mentor Air Padda.

Like Adamson, UE also searches for its first victory when it collides with FEU at 2 p.m.

FEU, for its part, hopes to hike its 1-2 tally in the middle standings.

In men’s play, titleholder Ateneo tries to extend its perfect run to four against Adamson in the featured 10 a.m. match, right after the FEU-UE tussle at 8 a.m.
