Coaches of the Ateneo women’s volleyball team are not putting any pressure on their stalwarts in their bid to protect their winning streak in the UAAP tournament.
The Lady Eagles are staking their seven-game winning run when they clash with the dangerous Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tams today to bolster their Final Four bid.
Match is at 4 p.m. at The Arena in San Juan City with Ateneo, carrying an 8-1 record, out to boost their bid for the No. 1 seed in the semis.
“Kami naman, step by step lang. Training by training. Hindi namin iniisip kung ano yung standing namin. Ang importante, yung mga napagpraktisan namin, nasunod sa laro,” said Ateneo assistant coach Sherwin Meneses.
The Lady Eagles are riding on the crest of a 25-10, 26-24, 28-26 triumph over the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses last Wednesday, and Meneses hopes the same intensity will be dished out by their players when they face the Lady Tams.
With their players peaking at the moment, Meneses is optimistic of another win although she expects the Lady Tams to come out strong.
FEU is out to untangle itself from a four-way logjam for third to sixth places with National University, University of the Philippines and UST with a 5-4 card.
UST, meanwhile, is determined to get back on the winning track when it battless winless Adamson at 2 p.m.
