The National University Pep Squad bagged their fourth straight win in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition (CDC) on Saturday, November 19 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
They also sweeped the awards for the group stunt, best toss and best pyramid.
The Far Eastern University Cheering Squad placed second, while the Adamson University Pep Squad came in third.
NU took home the grand prize of P340,000 while FEU and Adamson got P200,000 and P140,000 respectively. NU and FEU also took home an additional P25,000 each.
In the Group Stunts division, NU reigned supreme, followed respectively by the University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe and the FEU Cheering Squad.
The win makes NU the only other squad to have achieved the four-peat in the competition. It was first made by the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, still the record-holder for the most number of consecutive wins, with five.
This year’s competition saw seven teams slug it out for the championship, with the conspicuous absence of the eight-time champion UP Pep Squad, which announced weeks ago that it would skip the competition.
UP Pep Squad noted the organizers’ failure to take action on their complaint against last year’s results.
Last year, UP filed a formal protest before the UAAP Board questioning NU Pep Squad’s win. The Diliman-based team placed third.

Amid the tense and vibrant mood in the spiced-up competition, love momentarily filled the air after a guy from the UE side of the audience proposed to his girlfriend right after Adamson’s performance.
