The Leyte Sports Academy (LSA) athlete scholars won 28 gold medals in the Taiwan National Age-grouping Finswimming Competition held in Kaohsiung City last May 27-28, 2017.
Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla told reporters that the team also bagged nine silver and nine bronze medals.
Governor Petilla identified the members of the LSA team composed of four boys and four girls who represented the Philippines in the competition as: (girls) Jean Meryl Viñas, 14; Tehillah Mag-aso 15; Jelahlou Mendoza, 16; and Princess Aseo, 14; (boys) Rolando Ambe, Jr., 16; Reyl Malbas, 16; Prince Lou Augustus Labang, 14; and Frits Renzon Indab, 14.
“They are now qualified to join the 16th Asian Finswimming Championship this coming November 2-8, 2017 in South Korea,” Petilla said.
Petilla added that all expenses of the athletes are funded by the Philippine Sports Commission and Department of Education as representatives of the Philippines to the competition.
