The Philippine Azkals absorbed a stunning 1-0 loss to Timor-Leste Tuesday to end its campaign in the Chinese Taipei Football Association International Tournament on a sour note in Taipei.
Da Silva Garcia Silverio Da Resurecio scored the winning goal for Timor-Leste before stoppage time as the Azkals, who played minus some of their regular players due to the ongoing Philippines Football League playoffs, with one win and two losses.
The Azkals opened their campaign last week with a 3-1 win over Laos but fell to host Taiwan, 3-0.
While brothers Phil and James Younghusband, Simone Rota and Mike Ott saw action for the Azkals, the rest of the squad were either national team returnees of youngsters in need of international exposure.
The rest of the roster was comprised of Angel Guirado, Ruben Doctora, Nathan Alquiros, Fitch Arboleda, Junell Bautista, Jaime and Justin Cheng, Julian Clarino, Reymart Cubon, Dylan Debruycker, Javier Gayoso, James Hall, Ray Joeyl, Christian Lapas, Kintaro Miyagi, Nick O’Donnell, Yannick Tuazon, Adam Tull and Reynald Villareal.
Coaching the team was Marlon Maro, who mentored the U-22 in the Kuala Lumpur Southeast Asian Games.
