TAGUIG—The final four teams of the 7’s Football League stood tall as Laro, Real Amigos, Super Eagles, and Ghana clinched their semi-finals berths at the final regular season games and the eventual quarterfinals that took place on Monday night at the McKinley Hill Stadium.
Laro and Real Amigos booked their tickets to the semis after demolishing Futbol Fanatics and Western Bicutan respectively in their last elimination round assignments.
African teams Super Eagles and Ghana, on the other hand, needed to go through the quarterfinal stage to secure the other two semis spots.
Laro – the lone local team to qualify for the final four – was spearheaded by former Azkals skipper Aly Borromeo to a one-sided 5-0 victory against Futbol Fanatics to secure the top seed.
The Real Amigos, on the other hand, eliminated Western Bicutan with a 5-1 trashing in the quarterfinals.
The other quarterfinals tilt featured Ghana’s beatdown of Deportivo in a match that ended 6-0. Emmanuel Donkor unleashed a four-goal performance while Hassan Mohammed contributed with a couple.
The Super Eagles, who beat Daniel Matsunaga’s Deportivo Matu in their last regular season outing, returned later in the night to vanquish the gritty youngsters from Enderun, 3-1.
Enderun qualified for the quarters after edging out Tondo FC, 2-0, in their final regular season game. The match was stopped, however, with eight minutes left after a heated conflict broke out between the two squads.
Action resumes on Monday as Laro will take on the Super Eagles, while Ghana will square off with the Real Amigos.
