Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon went face-to-face with Brazil’s Bibiano Fernandes for the first time since their first encounter nearly two years ago.
Belingon, ONE interim bantamweight titleholder, will have the opportunity to avenge his only loss in eight fights as he takes on undisputed ONE bantamweight king Fernandes in a title unification rematch at Singapore Indoor Stadium, later tonight.
“I trained very hard for the match. I’ve waited for a long time to face Bibiano Fernandes again. I am 100 percent ready and confident,” said Belingon, who compiled six consecutive victories since tapping out to Fernandes in 2016. “I will do my best to win this time.”
Fernandes, meanwhile, promised a repeat performance against the Team Lakay star.
“This is where I unified the titles in 2013. I will get a chance to do it again in a rematch with a tough opponent in Kevin Belingon,” said the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist. “I fought him in the past. I finished him before, and I will finish him again.”
The rematch will serve as ONE: Heart of the Lion’s headliner with women’s atomweight champion Angela Lee pulling out of her title match after sustaining a severe back injury in training.
