San Beda woke up from an opening set defeat as it turned back Emilio Aguinaldo, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-17, yesterday to seize the solo lead in the women’s division of the 94th NCAA volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
Trisha Mae Paras paced her team with 19 points, most of which came in the last three sets when the Lady Red Spikers turned things around from a sluggish first set effort on their way to their fourth straight win.
Maria Nieza Viray scattered 13 hits while Sattriani Espiritu added 11.
In men’s action, EAC downed San Beda to claim its first triumph after starting the tournament with two straight defeats.
Earlier, San Beda outlasted EAC, 25-17, 25-16, 25-27, 25-21, to jump to solo third with a 3-1 card in the junior’s class.
