Franz Pumaren is staying as head coach of Adamson, saying that his contract is actually “open-ended” that could last about three to four years.
Pumaren started coaching Adamson in 2016 and under his tutelage, the Falcons made it to the Final Four in every season. They were a win away from advancing to the Finals but UP came through with two stunning wins to earn a championship berth for the first time in 32 years.
Pumaren said that training will resume Monday for an eight-month preparation for the 2019 UAAP men’s basketball, almost eight months after the twice-to-beat Falcons lost to the UP Fighting Maroons in the semifinals of the 81st UAAP season.
Adamson will no longer have two key players for the 82nd UAAP men’s basketball in forward Sean Manganti and Cameroonian center Papi Sarr, but remains a playoff contender with returning players Jerrick Ahanmisi, Jerom Lastimosa, Simon Camacho and Jonathan Espeleta.
