CBA: Valenzuela edges QC

Jaymar Gimpayan exploded for Valenzuela in a 115-111 home win against Quezon City in the Community Basketball Association Pilipinas Founder’s Cup at the Thoa Wild Center Gymnasium in Valenzuela on Sunday.

Gimpayan fired 33 points on 15-of-18 shooting including the go-ahead basket with 51 seconds left and two clutch free throws that finally sealed the win for Valenzuela.

He also had nine rebounds, one assist, and one block, while Floyd Dedicatoria added 18 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one block for Valenzuela.

Joco Tayongtong dropped 30 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and two steals, while Alwin Alday put up 28 points, six rebounds, and four assists for QC.

Mon Mabayo scored 22 markers, 15 boards, four dimes, and one block, while PJ Barua came up with 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

In the first game, Caloocan stopped Bulacan in overtime, 100-93.

Darwin Lunor made 24 points, 15 rebounds, and one steal for the Saints, who recovered from a 28-point second quarter explosion by the Heroes before sealing the win in the extra five minutes.

Neljun Saldana made 18 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals for Bulacan.
