PetroGazz swept Pacifictown Army, 29-27, 25-20, 25-14, on Sunday to bounce back from a loss in less than 24 hours in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan City, Laguna.
The win improved the Angels to 8-1 and reclaim their solo lead after yielding in four sets to defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers on Saturday that halted their seven-game winning run.
Imports Wilma Salas and Janisa Johnson joined forces once again for the Angels, pumping in 22 and 21 points.
PetroGazz exploited Army’s weak defense by bombarding the net with powerful kills mostly from Salas and Johnson, who merged for 36 of the team’s 50 attacks.
Army’s lackluster performance allowed them to convert 37 spikes out of 126 attempts – 15 of those coming from Olena Lymareva-Flink.
Lymareva-Flink finished with 16 points to become the lone double-digit scorer for the Lady Troopers, who evened their win-loss tally to 4-4 with two assignments left in the eliminations.
