Residents of Alabel, Sarangani Province were all smiles as Manny Pacquiao paid a surprise visit at Barangay Spring on Saturday, handing a hefty amount of paper bills to lined-up locals.
It seemed like an early Christmas for the residents as Pacquiao, holding a chunk of 1,000 and 500 peso bills, personally gave it to adults and children of Barangay Spring.
David Sisson, one of Pacquiao’s staff members, said the reigning boxing champion just decided to visit his home province without informing the media, as reported by ABS-CBN News.
Adults took P1,000 each while children had P500, as also seen in the video posted by Sisson on Facebook Saturday.
The boxer-turned-politician also talked to tricycle and jeepney drivers along the highway and lent them some cash, the report added.
Sisson said around 600 people received Pacquiao’s surprise gift.
Last month, Pacquiao defeated Keith Thurman via split decision for the super World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title.
