Gab Banal led Bacoor to their fifth straight victory as the Strikers foiled the Biñan City Laguna Heroes 78-70 in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season at Strike Gymnasium in Bacoor, Cavite Friday.
Banal posted 21 points to go with eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals as the Strikers improved to a 14-3 win-loss record. The Strikers trailed the Davao Occidental Tigers (14-2) in the South division.
King Zean Destacamento also chalked up 14 markers and 14 boards while Mark Montuano chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds for Bacoor.
Mark Anthony Acosta’s 25-point effort went to naught for the Heroes, suffering their third straight defeat at 6-11.
The Caloocan Supremos outlasted the skidding Bicol Volcanoes 81-73 behind John Ambulodto’s double-double performance earlier.
Ambuludto wounded up 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Supremos climbed to 10-7 while the Volcanoes dropped to 8-10 after their fifth straight defeat.
Paul Joseph Sanga, John Carlos Escalambre, Thomas Torres and Rene Pacquiao scored 14, 13, 12 and 11 markers respectively.
Meanwhile, the Cebu City Sharks crushed the winless Soccskarsargen Marlins 89-57.
William McAloney rampaged with 27 points and 17 rebounds as the Sharks improved to 6-9 while the Marlins were at rock bottom 0-15.
Kevin Rey Villafranca also scored 10 markers for Cebu.
